Why is Self Tanning Lotion A Great Tanning Choice?
Self Tanning Lotion For A Quick, Safe and Year Round Tan
Many people love the look of a tan. For some, it indicates youth and vitality. For others it covers up stretch marks and the tiny dimples created by cellulite. Some just want a tan because they believe a darker complexion looks better or is in style during the summer months.
The problem is, sitting out in the sun for extended periods of time can be extremely harmful to your skin. It can cause aging, discoloration and sunspots and even cancer. Over the years many have come to believe that getting a sun tan, and sometimes even a sun burn, is not worth it.
If you want to get the look of a sun-kissed glow with a tan that has your skin glowing brown, but doesn’t give you the harmful effects of the sun’s rays, a self tanning lotion is the way to go. They work by reacting with your epidermis.
Your skin is made up of two layers – the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis is on the outside and the dermis is on the inside. So, self tanning lotion works with the outside layer of your skin. The epidermis is made up of layers as well – the deepest layer being the stratum basale or the basal layer.
The basal layer is the layer of skin that gets affected when you go out in the sun and get a normal sun tan. The outermost layer, the stratum corneum or the horny layer, is the layer that is affected by most self tanning lotion products.
