Indoor Tanning Tips
If you want to get a tan, but you don’t want to get a sunburn or expose your skin to the harmful effects of the sun, an at home self-tanning product may be right for you. Following are some indoor tanning tips.
People have been using sunless tanning options since the 1960s when Coppertone created “Quick Tan.’ The problem with Quick Tan is that many people did not like the orange look it ended up giving their skin. Today, much has changed and you can obtain a fabulous tan at home.
First you will want to research and purchase your product. You can find many self-tanners at drug stores, department store makeup counters you can and even ask your dermatologist for some indoor tanning tips.
Before self-tanning at home, you’ll want to take a shower and exfoliate. Use an exfoliater to scrub your body paying particular attention to rough areas like the knees, feet and elbows. After you exfoliate, dry yourself off and wait a bit. Do not apply regular moisturizers, lotions, creams, makeup or perfumes as these can affect the tan.
Next, apply your product according to the instructions. Be careful around your hands and feet. You may also want to use a separate lotion designed specifically for your face. Make sure to wash your hands after applying the lotion as your hands can tend to turn orange or give an uneven look around your wrists.
Indoor tanning tips will also include advising not to put on any clothes right after applying the lotion. Allow the lotion to sink in before you put your clothes back on.
